Thursday 8th May 2025 saw members of the AMUA Redcliffe Deanery gathering for a meeting at St Laurnece Anglican Church, Caboolture.
A wonderful day was enjoyed by all. The meeting commenced with members gathering for a service of Eucharist with officiant Father James Oulds. Members processed with their branch banners. Significant steps were taken during the meeting. Members received Long Membership Awards from Diocesan President Jenny Bullock - namely 60 years, 50 years and 30 years. We heard the story of another member who recently received an award for 70 years membership. She is now 103 and doing extremely well. Sadly she could not be at the meeting in person but it was tremendous to hear about her membership journey. A new member for the Caboolture Branch was admitted by the Branch President. All very exciting. Each person received a rose along with their certificate or badge. The meeting was attended by the President for Australia who is a member of the Freshwater Parish Branch. It was good to have her at the meeting. Father Doug Frith blessed the prayer shawls made by members using their God given skills. The shawls will be distributed to those in the community who will find it beneficial and helpful. The locum of the parish, Father Bruce Boase was also in attendance. After a delicious morning tea everyone gathered to listen to guest speaker, Hilda Lamani, who resides in Caboolture but born in Melanesia. Hilda spoke about the literacy project as members from Australia are donating funds to assist with teaching literacy in three of the Melanesian Dioceses. Hilda also spoke about the issue of domestic violence, climate change and local cultures. She had a display of some of the National costumes worn when there are times of celebration such as welcoming people. An excellent presentation and members learnt much. Thank you Hilda. The following photographs were taken during the meeting.
If you would like to learn more about the prayer shawls please do not hesitate to contact Marilyn Oulds via the comment section of this page.
God Bless
